Summer Hot & Subtle Joy.

It’s well into the beginning of Autumn as I’m making this post, but with the lucky warm days and gentle cool breeze at night, you could almost imagine it’s a mild summer’s evening.
Without even a hint of exaggeration, I can hear a live jam band playing some chill tunes over the rooftops. It’s one of those ‘New York things’ we all move here for. I love it when my day-to-day life reflects a sort of romantic storytelling that I might have imagined as a small version of my daydreamer self living in a small town.
As we grow into the groans of adulting (omg lol and also sometimes ick), we learn that there is no such thing as perfection when it comes to life, except when there is. Spending an admittedly incredibly hot and very real summer’s day with this growing family was one of them.
Darling best friends, who could not be more in love with each other and then quadruple that for their gorgeous newborn daughter, brought buckets of charm to our session. There was a sense of locked-steppedness as they moved throughout the day. Unencumbered adoration passed between glances and imbued their faces as if I were a true fly on the wall of a sweet afternoon.
I often wonder if people know their joy is tangible. Like do any of us know how seemingly subtle moments passed between us can ripple out something so magical? Regardless of the answer, I’m forever grateful I was gifted the opportunity to see and capture it in real time.
With love,
